To support the ongoing operation of the Food Pantry program, which provides nutritious food to AIDS/ HIV clients and their families. Approx. 300+ families are given enough groceries for over 70,000 meals.

Positive Wellness Alliance

To support the Forsyth Co. HIV Medical Case Management Program with emphasis on prevention and emergency support. Up to 80 active clients; includes a bi-weekly support group for HIV+ women of color.

PFLAG Winston-Salem
$5,000.00

To re-engineer services to better meet local needs with emphasis on a Homeless LGBT starter fund, a Parent Day/Workshop, a resource website, and bolder faith group engagement. A series of 4 local public Forums on pertinent issues such as anti-bullying has already begun.

Theatre Alliance of WS

To support 2 productions with pertinent LGBT themes: “Kiss of the Spider Woman” and “The Little Dog Laughed”

Wake Forest University Health Services – Infectious Diseases Specialty

To provide comprehensive training on service delivery to HIV+ LGBT youth and to pilot a monthly support group for HIV+ LGBT youth in a community setting.

UNC School of the Arts

To support 5 local workshops of performance artist Tim Miller which create a safe place for students to examine issues of gender identification & social challenges encountered in their personal and professional lives. Project includes 3 public performances.

Equality NC Foundation
$1,000.00

To sponsor the state-wide Equality Conference & Gala to be held Saturday Nov. 12, 2011 in Greensboro. Forsyth County residents have an opportunity to engage in LGBT issues such as aging, legal rights, and activism. The conference highlights the diverse groups of people issues including faith groups, straight allies, and people of color working on statewide LGBT issues.

AF Homeless Youth Initiative

Start-up funds dedicated to a coalition effort on this issue locally. AF is proud to have been the first to publicly commit a specific amount to this LGBT youth issue..
